Giving birth

I have finally given birth to the genre story, the first draft is written, that's the hard part right?
Now comes the editing which depending on your view can be the easiest or the most difficult bit to get through. I swapped my short story and genre story round on my priorities list partly because editing something I have is easier than coming up with something from scratch and I need to easier stuff to come at the end when my brain has used up all its power.

I have gone way over the work count, at least 20% so I need to cut back some but at the same time add some spice to the story I have....any thoughts? I think I have a 10% margin when I had in so that might come in useful but if I really need to practice staying within word limits, its one of my worst faults in the actual production stages.
